Tableau audio system

Up until the eighties electronics were like furniture. It decorated our houses without being invasive. The eigthies brought on the electronic era  where radio's, tv's and computers became centre-pieces of the house. These technology driven times in which it is all about see, and be seen is over its peak. Ofcourse there are still very large tv screens, but the radio's with blinking lights are gone (and good riddance to them!)

The Tableau audio system goes back to the sixties and seventies. Appliances should feel like a piece of furniture, they don't have to draw attention and they can enforce your personal style without standing out.

The pictures show a technology prototype of the 'medium' sized speaker. No displays or other light sources will be used. It contains a whopping 8 inch woofer and two full range speakers which are powered by a hifi grade Class-A/B 70Watt internal amplifier. Inputs consist of wired (RCA plugs), bluetooth and wifi. It will embed a streaming media server like Volumio, Runeaudio or PI Musicbox for all your digital music content and connectivity needs.

Active and passive filters and DSP effects can be limited to a minimum through smart design which eventually leads to a very rich, pure and full sound. The frequency range is between 35-20.000 Hz (-3 Db) and can really fill your room with powerfull bass. To handle this amount of bass the Tableau system has been made very heavy for its size. It weighs 13 kilo's and it measures 55x20x32 cm (WxHxD).
The oversized subwoofer on the back is part of a push-pull system in which a smaller (front mounted) active subwoofer, drives the passive larger woofer. This creates the possibility to have bass extention as low as 35Hz (-3db) in a very small housing. Hearing is believing in this case.

The picture below shows the back of the system at an early stage of development.
